Safe diagnostics for motility disorders
Transit-Pelletsmethod™ (formerly known as Abrahamsson Method), also known in some circles, as Sahlgrenska Method is a unique method designed for colonic transit studies. By using this Swedish method, physicians and radiologists can distinguish between normal, slow and rapid transit. Moreover it is possible to assess where the dysfunction in the colon is present.
The principle is that the patient swallows a fix dose of Transit-Pellets™ radiopaque markers for six days. On day seven, a single abdominal radiograph is taken. The patient colonic transit time is calculated as the mean oro-anal transit time (OATT, mouth-to-anus) in days of swallowed doses. This value is obtained base on the number of retained markers that are left and in which segment the markers are located.
Indications for colonic transit measurement
Measurement of colonic transit time with Transit-Pelletsmethod™ and Transit-Pellets™ radiopaque markers is a useful diagnostic test in the investigation and assessment of many gastrointestinal disorders, but otherwise negative GI evaluations.
Many experts agree that colonic transit test should be done early in the investigation of patients with motility disorders. Treating physicians are able to use the total and segmental values traced with the use of Transit-Pelletsmethod™ combined with Transit-Pellets™ radiopaque markers as a guide to appropriate therapy. Physicians may also use the colonic test results to assess the response to therapy. The method and product is particularly useful for evaluation of patients with:
- Bothersome constipation
- Chronic diarrhoea
- Constipation-dominated Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS-C)
- Diarrhoea-dominated Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS-D)

Colonic transit measurement has never been easier!
This is the World’s Premiere web base A.I System for colonic transit study under the name of Transit-Pellets™ GI Monitoring System. The system can be used in real-time using any device connected to the Internet and is available to all healthcare practitioner account holders. With GI Monitoring system, the user is able to follow a step-by-step guide, enters the number and location of markers as shown in the patient’s x-ray.
The system automatically then calculates the patient total and segmental colonic transit time according to Transit-Pelletsmethod™. The report displayed after each test shows the patient colonic test results in both graphical and report format benchmarked against Transit-Pelletsmethod™ proprietary reference values.
